Via Colin comes the welcome news that this month’s MORI Political Monitor opinion poll puts the Liberal Democrats on 24%, up three points on June. Here’s a low rent Excel graph showing MORI’s scores on the doors since January:

The same poll found Tony Blair with his lowest approval rating since becoming PM, but despite that and David Cameron’s supposed successess, the Tories are only four points ahead of Labour.
MORI are by no means the most reliable of pollsters (see James and Mike), but any increase is at least good for morale. An interesting aside is that Labour lead when likelihood to vote isn’t taken into account.

Hello from London. I’m on the move with little time to blog, but I had to pop in to say congratulations to Ming, Ben and the Bromley and Chislehurst by-election campaign team for running the Tories so close. I’m yet to Bob Neill’s repotredlty ungracious acceptance speech, but I caught the declaration on the news this morning and couldn’t help laughing at the absurd fist-in-the-air gesture the new MP sported when the result was announced.
Alas, no time at the moment to comment on campaigning techniques, but I associate myself with James Graham’s comments on not contributing to the fear of crime.

Ben Abbotts canvassing a couple of Cheeky Girls in Bromley.

Beyond an antediluvian pun in the title, words fail me.
The LibDems have acquired another blogging Lord, and their first blogging hereditary peer, in the shape of Lord Avebury, aka Eric Lubbock, former MP for Orpington.
You can read about, amongst other thing, his exploits on the by-election trail in Bromley and his speeches in the House of Lords at http://ericavebury.blogspot.com/. I met him in Orpington during the General Election last year and a very good chap he is, with a strong track record on human rights. Hopefully he will join LibDem Blogs soon.
