Twitter Updates for 2008-08-15 Aug 15
  • Very busy day ahead, but the up side is it’s because after today I’m not working for Ten Whole Days. #
  • Annoyance at board saying “Good Service” while showing unchanging “2 min” offset by TfL guy’s chirpy “Apologies, someone’s nicked my train.” #
  • Still, that’s twoe out of my last three tube journeys delayed by broken down trains. Yay for a modern and reliable mass transit system. #
  • Oh. I seem to have turned into the kind of Tube grump that used to annoy my “At least you’ve got a Tube” self when I lived outside London. #
  • I do like the Sports and Social Club. It’s like a proper pub (albeit with plasma screens) in Parliament. #
  • There’s something very cathartic about sitting around in a group and sharing your obsessive compulsions. #
  • @Sourdust I’ve played that game. I’ve worn that balaclava. #
  • Catching up with Who Do You Think You Are?, one of my guilty pleasures. Patsy Kensit’s great. #

  • Oh. No more Twitter coming via text message in the UK. That’s quite a backwards step. #
  • @Reynolds Not Sweet and Tender Hooligan? #
  • @flashboy I was thinking the same. I’d’ve liked to be able to alert people on our official party feed. #
  • @qwghlm Might be a plan, although I’d probably end up sending even more updates than I do through m.twitter.com 🙂 #
  • Not sure if or how I’m going make use of Fire Eagle, but I’m going gooey-eyed over the website. #
  • @ruskin147 Stopped once I was following lots of people. Was useful to have on when out of GPRS range though. Still often use it for sending. #
  • http://tinyurl.com/6fg75l I don’t think this is the first time this has happened – didn’t the West Midlands Tory MEPs make the same mistake? #
  • @nimbos Congratulations and good luck then. What are they exams in? #
  • Westminster tube: trains delayed or not in service, an alarm blaring above us somewhere, and Inspector Sands being summoned on the tannoy. #
  • A security check to go to cinema? I’d be less annoyed if it hadn’t been so cursory. #
  • X-Files film fairly mediocre. Characterisation and writing ham-fisted. Plot nothing special. Some amusing bits. Passed the time. #
  • @GavinWhenman Dear Professor Hunter, It’s none of your business if I’m fat. Love, Will #
  • Not sure those of us currently on platform 5 at London Bridge need to know that the platform is changing for a train in an hour’s time. #
  • @GavinWhenman Beating themselves to death with stale baguettes? #
  • Flicking through the Open House London directory. #
  • Dear Bonekickers Episode 4, 2008 A.D. is not 2339 years after 331 B.C. There was no year 0. Love, Will #
  • This Bonekickers episode has the mum from Fear Her, the voice of the Ood, and the “real” Captain Jack. And the snake from the McGann movie. #

  • @Nico_Macdonald Genetic modification being behind global warning is quite a claim. Page Ben Goldacre… #
  • Miliband is talking about Russia’s “rights and responsibilities”. At least Labour are consistent in their tedious buzzwords. #
  • Just had to walk from Waterloo to Westminster thanks to a security alert. Westminster tube has just reopened. #
  • Maybe Policy Exchange and Prince Charles are part of a secret extra April Fools Day they’ve forgotten to tell anyone else about. #
  • FTPing a very large data file. Hoping it doesn’t fill up the internet, and, more importantly, that it finishes before I need to leave work. #
  • @doctorvee If it were just a week later… #

  • Remembered too late our rule about not shouting the word “Bomb” on the parliamentary estate. #
  • The Cap of Coding is on my head. Echo Beach is in my earphones. It’s time for some serious programming. #
  • @diamondgeezer Timely reminder, thanks! #
  • Defending the honour of party HQ at the Brent/Hampstead Liberal Democrats quiz night. #
  • @alexfoster My great-aunt, Marion Howells. She wrote the seminal 1970s classic “Fondue and Table Top Cookery”. #
  • @alexfoster Google her 🙂 #
  • Waiting for the train to leave so I can get home and do some more work. #
  • @alexfoster Ooh, I’ve not heard of that one. I think she also worked on the United Nations Cookbook. #
