  • chmod -R, you are my friend today. #
  • Pocket full of shrapnel. Started as useful bank notes. A useful analogy for the Second Law of Thermodynamics. #
  • @alexfoster Ah, a displacement activity. #

  • Returning briefly to my Twitpic FAIL of Friday, anyone got an idea what this out of focus bug might be? http://twitpic.com/d9hi #
  • @bigbluemeanie That’s the only one. It was long with an orange bit in the middle, but not with ladybird wings. #
  • @nimbos @bigbluemeanie Ah, but could be ladybird larva. I’ll have a look for a photo to compare… #

  • Best probic vent hit ever. #
  • The Trial of a Time Lord DVD has deleted and extended scenes. Won’t somebody think of the children? #
  • Watching that dreadful old Shatner performance of Rocket Man. For the lulz, natch. #
  • @jamesgraham He just talked about the credit crunch “impoverishing all of us” or somesuch. He’s probably the least likely to lose out… #
  • Brain shutting down. Must be time for bed. I wonder if “sleep on it” is the human equivalent of “install updates and restart”. #

  • Have switched from Feedburner back to my normal Wordpress feed for http://www.libdemblogs.co.uk as posts weren’t coming through properly. #
  • Stayed up late to wait for washing to finish and then forget to empty machine. Laundry FAIL. Making up for it via the cafetière. #
  • @bigbluemeanie Ooh, Chertsey - home of some of my ancestors. #

  • As blogged last night, here’s a great Doctor Who video compilation: http://tinyurl.com/4mh3qy #

  • Dear World, Today I have learnt not to try finding my way round new places without optical assistance. Love, Squinty McSquint. #
  • Home alone on a work day is a recipe for prolific twittering. Sorry. At least I’ve not yet started twittering about twittering. #
  • @markpack I say it’s nature rather than nurture. #
  • What I should be doing: tidying. What I am doing: coding and watching Murder, She Wrote with best ep title: “We’re Off to Kill the Wizard”. #
  • Notable guest stars in this episode: James Coco (who’s in one of my favourite films, Murder By Death) and young Joaquin and Summer Phoenix. #
  • Code does what it should, which is good. Time to pack and tidy. Maybe on game of Word Twist first… #
  • Off to the Lake District. Laterz. #
  • http://twitpic.com/d9hi - #
  • You have been sent a media message from +447904117421.View it at http://mmsi2legacy.o2.co.uk by typing in your ID:447624801423 and PIN:5 … #

  • “It’s junction 44.” “Of the M6?!” “Yeah. No, sorry, 4A.” #
  • Listening to an ELO compilation in the car and remembering how much I love Love and Monsters. Hurrah for RTD. #

  • @binarytales Me neither. Been on my to do list for a while but still some way off. #
  • Excellent: Lib Dem gain from the Conservatives in Camden by-election. #
  • @mpntod Congratulations on the result! #

What are you doing here?

Filed under: Doctor Who — Will @ 11:57 pm

Mr Cornell and Mr Guerrier draw my attention to this rather brilliant Doctor Who video by the extremely persistent Andrew Liddell. It speaks for itself, so here it is:

Both Mr C and Mr G also feature in this nice article about writing Who.

Update: Mr G suggests in the comments that I might like to plug the book that the Herald article is about. Here you go.

  • @plasticbagUK No spoilers for those of us not in the US, please and thank you :) #
  • @katebevan Not sure, but would it be odd to have protected updates but public on your blog? (Can you even do it with protected updates?) #
  • A bit nervous about something I’m doing later on. If it goes well, I’ll share. If it doesn’t, let’s pretend it never happened. #
  • @stephmog Thanks! #
  • I am pleased to report that my first stand up set actually went OK and people laughed. Which was a relief. #
  • @paulbradshaw Early to mid morning, Tuesday to Thursday. #
  • @HelenDuffett WDYTYA will be an iPlayer priority, as usual. #
  • Got a nagging memory of being invited somewhere on the 3rd but can’t remember where or by whom. Not a FB event… #

  • Fitful night’s sleep culminating in a nightmare that just woke me up. Too much cheese on my pizza last night? #
  • @snapesbabe Don’t blame us, it’s not an official feed :) #
  • @apeatling Torn mine is great. Was first shown the video by a colleague who was at uni with him when he was first performing it. #
  • @snowgoon Hmm, spoilers from US twitterers could be a problem, couldn’t it? Maybe I should be as wary about twittering Doctor Who. #
  • @HelenDuffett The good is you can always top up your Oyster :) #
  • Queue at Tesco too long to buy breakfast but finally worked out that “8-9″ on the door is address rather than opening hours. D’oh. #
  • @ruskin147 Fishburn Hedges PR firm. They inspired us to get party members hashtagging from Lib Dem conference. #
  • Retweeting @qwghlm: Oh this is nice, very nice http://www.youtube.com/experiencewii #
  • @jamesgraham Sticks it up Uranus. #
  • Listening to Brown’s speech and trying not to throw up. Apparently a full stop is an applause line. #
  • @stephmog No, rarely look at pb.com… #
  • Ah, I see why Labour are collecting people’s DNA: they want to test it for “fairness”. #
  • I can see why some people would like Gordon Brown’s rhetoric, but it’s a complete turn-off for me. #
  • @paulbradshaw My N95 reboots a fair bit but I’m not sure if it’s a phone problem or the SIM. #
  • Trying to decide whether I believe Outlook’s claim that I have 12,440 items in my Inbox. #
  • Looks like I’m going to the Lake District at the weekend. And relax… #
  • @HelenDuffett “We will help you achieve (what we think is) your potential - whether you want to be helped or not.” #
  • Trying to decide which DVD to watch. Comedy, West Wing, Murder She Wrote or Lost… #
  • An evening with Aunt Jess it is. This one’s got Dean Jones, Dan O’Herlihy and Lynn Redgrave in. First season good for guest stars so far. #
  • More Saint Angela of Lansbury. Guest stars include Peter Graves and Greg Morris off of Mission: Impossible. #

  • Tired and hoping The Cold isn’t coming for me. And belatedly listening to lots of 10cc thanks to @miketd’s blog. #
  • Total of three friends have now fallen foul of Facebook hack spam. Not good for the platform at all. #
  • @jamesgraham Richard Wilson or Richard O’Brien? #
  • Talking my new intern through doing stuff, which will hopefully free up my time to do other stuff. #
  • Sick of emails. Job running. Tempted to use the time to code something fun. #
  • Fun coding with text messaging API seems to work. Live implementation some way off but could be cool. #
  • Like the train barriers with Obama on. When I put my ticket through he waves at me. #
  • @secretlondon Visit Britain, I think. Saw some on the Tube this morning. It’s not immediately clear. #
  • Watching my mate David on BBC Four’s Only Connect. #

  • @katebevan That’s very cool :) #
  • OK, Google Map doesn’t work 100% the way I want but workarounds enough for the job. Good good. #

  • Deciding not to wait for the post-club eaters to share a cab and heading for the night bus. Must… stay… awake… #
  • Starting to worry that, despite TfL website and timetables and signs at bus stop, the 176 isn’t coming here. Second bus now due and no sign. #
  • Rang TfL who promised bus really is coming past this stop but is late. I’ll believe it when I see it. #
  • 176 has just parked up around the corner. Looks like it will be the 2.30 - fingers crossed. Doesn’t explain the missing 1.50 and 2.10. #
  • @secretlondon Ah, that would explain it. Wish I’d known when I turned down taxi. Nothing on TfL wap that I saw. #
  • Executive decision: cab. #
  • @stephmog Cheers :) Main annoyance was turning down a cab share and then having to pay on my own. Got me home quickly and safely though. #
  • @stephmog Not up - awake but lying in catching up with teh internets and wondering what to do today. #
  • Strong cup of tea and a couple of tea cakes (the doughy type). Tempted to put Murder, She Wrote DVD on but the sun is tempting me outside… #
  • It appears to of my twittering friends may have been at Middle Temple Hall simultaneously… #
  • Pleased with the gratuious Google Maps mashup I’ve coded this afternoon. Now thinking of equally gratuitous bells and whistles. #
  • Fixing some code that was broken when TheyWorkForYou introduced API keys. #
  • @markpack That would overload the API. #
  • Watching Roxy Music documentary on teh iPlayer. #
  • @doctorvee http://tinyurl.com/2z29km #

  • I wonder how many complaints the BBC got for Ainsley Harriott’s use of the F-word on Who Do You Think You Are… #
  • Writing some convoluted but useful MySQL. #
  • Inspired by David Suchet and Ainsley Harriott, I’m rummaging through an online archive index http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/ #
  • Things I have discovered hurt: a chunky mobile phone falling on your head. #
  • @jamesgraham N95 8GB. It’s a potential death trap. #
  • @alexfoster Not without installing an application. #
  • @jamesgraham Not the S60 version. #
  • Mate texting that he’s an hour late for his own birthday drinks = I can haz Macdonalds. #
  • Piccadilly Circus a pedestrian nightmare as ever. Glad I rarely come round here. #
  • Guy in this club has my Dorkington Hackers t-shirt, albeit in a different colour. #
  • @wilw In club in London, just been talking about you + Belle & Seb. Straight away Boy with the Arab Strap has come on. #
