Primetime crime

Filed under: Politics — Will @ 10:48 am

Regular readers will recall that I shot a crime-themed video for the last Liberal Democrat party conference.

I was pleased to see, when I got a copy of Tuesday’s party election broadcast, that a little bit of the footage I shot for that on my travels around the country made it onto primetime telly on BBC One, BBC Two and ITV1.

Here’s the full video for your delectation:

Ah, a Photoshop game

Can you do a better job than whoever was responsible for this apparently altered photograph of a Labour candidate?

For example, I seem to have uncovered evidence that my boss, Dr Pack, was at the same march:

90% isn’t good enough to beat the Cult of Skaro

Filed under: Doctor Who, Geeklife — Will @ 5:59 pm

Dan insists I tell you something of last night.

One of my flatmates plus myself and Daniel headed to the notorious Retro Bar music quiz - although we got there a little early, offering time for several bottles of Magners before the quiz commenced. Despite this, and more trendy cider during it, we managed to score 18/20 on the girls-names-themed quiz.

We knew that wouldn’t be enough to win, though. The victorious team - excellently named The Cult of Skaro, and not led by Chris Black - got 19.5/20. They also went on to win the £50 cash prize, although, like me, may have been disappointed not to have picked up the supposed booby prize of a set of Doctor Who top trumps.

By this time, we had moved onto wine (of which Dan drank most) before moving on elsewhere for another drink. I shan’t repeat the self-pitying text message he sent me through his hangover this morning while I was bright and sharp at work (despite my journey in taking three times as long as it should’ve done).

Chris Rennard on 18 Doughty Street

On Monday night, I joined host Zoe-Anne Phillips, fellow LibDem blogger Andy Mayer, Conservatives Caroline Hunt and John Moorcraft, and Australian Liberal (no relation to the Liberal Democrats) Michael Medway for three hours on internet TV station 18 Doughty Street.

We had some lively debates, to say the least. You can watch our first two shows, Blogger TV and Vox Politix, in the archive respectively here and here.

Tonight at 9pm on the same channel, you can catch Iain Dale’s interview with the Liberal Democrats’ Chief Executive, Lord Rennard. It was recorded yesterday and is already online to watch here.

We’ll be on air from 9pm. If you can’t tune in tonight, you should be able to watch all three shows we’re doing on the 18 Doguhty Street website from tomorrow.

Donner leurs voix

Visiting South Kensington this afternoon, I was puzzled to see people queuing around the block. The line went on so far I couldn’t see where it ended, or, therefore, the reason for it.

On my way back, I noticed the French flag hanging from a building near the back of the queue and realised the people were French voters waiting to cast their votes at the embassy for the French presidential election. This was confirmed by a Frenchman overheard commenting, “If the queue is that long, I won’t bother voting.”

And here they are:
